Nature and Violets

My entry for Pride Month.

The flowers growing through the cracks are violets "Bisexual women and lesbians used to give violets to the woman they were wooing, symbolizing their "Sapphic" desire" 

Being bisexual I often felt like my place in the LGBTQ+ community was subject to whether or not I was in a straight passing relationship. I often had people assume that if I had no gender preference then it might be easier to stay in straight passing relationship or that I am always going to end up in one in the end to give myself an easier life.

The problem is that you can pretend all you like to be straight, cultivate a different identity for yourself, but the person you are will always show through in the end. I won't deny an integral part of who I am just so I can fit better into what is more socially acceptable. Whether or not I am single or in a straight passing relationship I will always be queer. It's not something I'm ashamed of.
